About the process
Step 1: Design
We focus on clean designs that work for you. By collaborating with you, we combine your business goals with our technical expertise to produce a result that genuinely stands out. Whether we’re building a look from scratch or refining your existing assets, our priority is total clarity and professional impact. If you have your own layouts ready to go, we’ll handle the technical adaptation to ensure they translate perfectly to the final product.
We recommend getting in touch with us as early as possible. This will allow us to share advice which will save you time, catch potential issues before they cost you money, and ensure that your designs will translate perfectly into the final product.

Step 2: Production
In our Timaru workshop, we combine 45 years of traditional knowledge with the latest in print and fabrication technology. Using premium 3M vinyl products alongside our deep material knowledge, we ensure the right material is selected for your specific application.

Step 3: Installation
Whether we’re applying graphics in our dedicated workshop or installing large-scale signage on-site, our highly qualified and experienced staff handle every detail. We prioritize clear communication and strict deadlines to ensure your project runs smoothly from start to finish. From high-level building signage to intricate vehicle wraps, everything is mounted securely, leaving the site clean and your business looking its absolute best.

Frequently asked questions
What file formats do you require for artwork?
We prefer vector files (PDF, AI, or EPS) for logos and high-resolution (300dpi) files for images.
What if I already have a designer?
We are happy to collaborate. We can provide accurate templates and site photos for your designer, or we can take your existing branding and adapt it specifically for your application, whether that is 3D CNC cutting, vehicle contours, or large-format printing. We can also supply source files in a compatible format upon project completion.
Do you handle council consents and permits?
Responsibility for council consents and permits rests with the client, but we’re happy to provide help to make the process go smoothly. We can provide the necessary proofs, material specifications, and advice on local requirements to support your application.
What if my site access is difficult?
We conduct site surveys to assess access. Our quotes include any necessary specialized equipment, such as cherry pickers, scaffolding, or traffic management, to ensure a safe and professional installation.
Can you remove my old signage or graphics before starting?
Yes. We offer a full “strip and prep” service. We can professionally remove old vinyl, decommission old lightboxes, and responsibly dispose of or recycle old materials so your new branding has a perfectly clean surface.
How do I clean and maintain my signs or wraps?
Use hand washing with pH-neutral soap and a soft cloth. Avoid abrasive brushes, harsh chemicals, and high-pressure water blasters (especially near the edges of vinyl graphics). We provide specific care instructions with every completed job.
What happens if my sign or graphics get damaged?
Because we keep all your digital artwork on file, we can quickly produce and apply repairs, ensuring your signage always looks its best. Drop us a line or send through a photo of the damage, and we’ll get it sorted.
Important: If the damage has created a potential hazard, please contact us immediately. We will mobilize as quickly as possible to secure the signage and restore safety.
How long will it take to complete my signage job?
Project durations at Timaru Signs depend on the complexity and size of your request. We aim for a speedy turnaround on every job, ensuring your brand gets noticed as quickly as possible without sacrificing quality. If you have a specific deadline you need to meet, we can usually make it work – please be sure to mention this to our helpful staff when you enquire.
